Isaiah Thomas’ half season with the Cavaliers did not go as well as anyone hoped. After getting traded as part of a package for Kyrie Irving, Cleveland was hoping that Thomas would replace Irving’s scoring from the point guard spot.
Thomas’ 15 games with the team (after rehabbing from a hip injury) was enough for the team to cut bait from the two-time All-Star. Thomas struggled to regain his 28-PPG form from 2016-17 and averaged about half that while struggling with his shot. Thomas was dealt to the Lakers in February. Thomas is a soon-to-be free agent and he spent last night on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, where he battled the NBA legend he was named after, Isiah Thomas, in a contest of the ages, “Generation Gap.”
He played “Generation Gap” as well as he did playing basketball for Cleveland, but he did provide a good zinger on his former team (around the 6-minute mark).
I guess if they do come back to win the Finals, that championship ring from the Cavs for Thomas is probably not going to happen.
